There needs to be a 5.1 version of this. This is Gilmour's best album hands down and its worthy of being a Pink Floyd album.

I've generally thought this sounded pristine, and generally it does, but upon listening with headphones I did notice some "shh" sounds on the Ss. But that's about the only complain. I enjoy the thicker, larger gatefold which makes it stand out a bit in the shelf.

A plodding, boring, pretentious and dreary offering from Gilmour. A rehash of older melodies and themes in part, and not very well done. Great quality pressing and packaging, although the heavy card gatefold was easily torn if you were a little rough. I sold mine on because I just wasn't interested in any of the tracks or even an intended concept behind it all, even if this existed.

Great mid-range energy on this pressing! A nice and chill listening experience. Vocals and guitar stand out, percussion seems a bit set back on most of the tracks.

Edited 3 years agoExcellent pressing, my only (minor) complaint is about the oversized cover, I can't find a big enough plastic outer sleeve to store it in!

Edited 6 years agoTo help the original does not have a booklet. However you will know you have an original as it is made of double weight cardboard with two openings in the sleeve. The new issue is sealed on the front flap with a single opening. The poster is also double weight paper on the original. The cover is a lighter shade of blue overall, whilst the poster is a darker shade to the cover. The original also comes with a white paper plastic lined inner bag. The over all dimensions of the original cover is 12mm (1/2") bigger than the new release and it was never issued sealed or with any stickers. The original is probably 140gm vinyl vs the new 180gm vinyl. The original has an circular white EMI logo with Music from EMI in the bottom right corner. Both bar code references are the same, but the original bar code last digit is on the outside of the code. The new version has the last digit on the inside of the code. First and last digits to the bar code are smaller font on the original. The original sounds much smoother than the new version, but both sound fantastic with zero rumble in the vinyl cut.

I have just bought this album in great condition & would like to keep it that way, not as an investment, just because I like my album covers to be nice.
Lovely though the heavy cardboard gate-fold cover is, it is too large for the PVC covers (from Sounds Wholesale on eBay here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-10-12-12-GATEFOLD-STRONGEST-180-MICRON-PVC-RECORD-SLEEVES-FREE-DELIVERY-/290840378703?var=&hash=item896489a362) that I have - no way it will fit in.
Has anyone sourced a cover that will protect this chunky album please? -
