Great stuff. Often overlooked era of Sabaath’s ever-changing line up. These records sound incredibly good. The box set comes with all sorts of extras which is great, but these pressings are fantastic. I was unfamiliar with the Tony Martin albums and bought this set to round out the discography. I was blown away with how good these albums are and how great they sound. 100% recommendation to anyone who’s on the fence about this one.

Note: All lyrics are printed in the 40 page softcover booklet. The records are housed within plain black innersleeves.

Edited 8 months agoI love this stuff. Rare, under- the- radar albums that are either difficult to find or previously unpressed? That makes for great box set content!
I have loved Black Sabbath since I started getting into music in 2005 or so but have not given the Tony Martin era a chance until this past year. It is all very new music to my ears. These records are hidden gems, damn. Just awesome, classic heavy metal. I can't decide if I like Headless Cross or Tyr the best, they both blow me away. Cross Purposes rocks, and the new mix of Forbidden really shines that album in a new light. All excellent stuff. Tony's Marshall and Laney tones rock! Deliciously 80s and early 90s, and a killer snapshot of that era.
Box is great, and I appreciate the extras. Simple and effective- a tour book replica, poster, and nice booklet; excellent. That is what I like to see in a nice box set. The records sound excellent. Headless Cross, Tyr, and Cross Purposes are clear and punchy. Superb sound that really pop through your stereo. Comparing the mix of Forbidden to the old one is insane. The guitars sound HUGE. Listen to that opening riff on "Shaking off the Chains"... wow!
As I said, I only just got into the Martin era and it was with a live record I bought, last year. It is a bootleg of a 1989 show, and they sound amazing. As such, I wish this came with Cross Purposes Live or some other live content, but that is okay considering this set is designed to re- showcase these studio albums that have been lost to time.
My one real critique is that Iommi did not include the bonus tracks in the vinyl set. It is more expensive than the CD set, so why not toss in a 7 or 10- inch record with the other songs? Oh well, this is still 100% worth picking up for Black Sabbath diehards or any fans of classic heavy metal. I might even say this is essential considering this may be your only chance to get represses of these albums for another few decades. Hopefully they just keep it in production, so these albums get the respect they deserve. Time will tell.
Big thanks to Tony for putting these out there again for fans to discover and rediscover. -
Simply put, amazing. This was absolutely worth my money, and if you're a Black Sabbath fan or really a metal fan in general, this is an absolute must buy
-
This is every bit worth the money. I love every era of Sabbath and, thanks to this new remix, Forbidden just went from my least favorite album to one of my favorites. It sounds so good it's like getting another new Black Sabbath album. I listen to it frequently now.

Edited 11 months agoRight off the bat, this cut of Tyr is significantly better than my '90 South Korean pressing. It didn't have a great mix to begin with with too much reverb on the drums and not a ton of low end, but this is a pretty engaging press. I still have to compare my OG US Headless Cross to the new cut, but I'm sure its pretty close in sound quality.
Edit: My US press sounds wayyy better than this cut but not $100 better. Its still a great pressing, especially considering the value for the other albums included in this set. -
In this box you will find the best versions of Cross Purposes and Forbidden on vinyl. Tyr and Headless Cross are great too. Extras are pretty good, I really like the poster.
-
I own all ablums on different versions."Headless Cross and "TYR" remastered LPs sound a bit different than my OG german LP pressings, they are not bad by any mean, but i m listening the originals for 30 years, so i prefer the Originals. Cross Purposes sounds just Great and the revelation is of course the Forbidden remixed / remastered LP that actually uses some vocal lines that are not on the original album, probably Iommi had some alternative takes of Martin to work with. Overall very good box for its original price. Also the extras are pretty much cool. I would suggest anyone that doesnt own the original LPs , if able to grab a copy, it's worth the money.
Tony Martin is an awesome vocalist and hugely underrated! -
Wow. Absolutely phenomenal. I'm a huge Sabbath and Ozzy fan, but only just started listening to the Tony Martin Sabbath in the last few years. Since then, I've been hoping they re-released these 4 albums, as finding originals is extremely difficult and $$$.
Absolutely fantastic remasters. Overall box quality it top notch, especially for the price of $100. All of the cool extra books and info are awesome as well. Very much worth it. I listed to all 4 right in a row, and then spun up Seventh Star and Eternal Idol to round it out. Just fantastic. -
Very impressed. This one was done for the fans pure and simple. The fact that a legendary band like Sabbath would put out a box of these albums; it takes balls as this period of their history is largely forgotten and ignored. The whole box is high quality, especially for a $100. Really cool book with the history of each album. As other reviewers have said the vinyl itself is flat and glossy and sounds great.
