Edited one year agoBeing pretty familiar with the original mix, I had trepidation about this new mix. But after listening to it, I think I *kinda* like it better than the original - it's less "muffled/murky", and with that, you hear a bit more of the more subtle instrumentation that's in there. It's still very compressed/crushed sounding though.
Pretty cool that there's an extra track (Futurism) here that's not on the original.
As for the vinyl, the first one (yellow) has a ton of background/surface noise - not so bad during louder parts, but nearly distracting during quieter parts.
The second disc (orange) had zero surface noise! So I think the vinyl used for the yellow may be of lower quality or something.
Overall, I recommend this release if you don't already have the album. And ignore the scalpers here, this colored variant can still be had from the band's official store for $31. -
Not a big fan of this one, but maybe it'll grow on my over time? Think I'll stick to the original OOS for now...

So i bought this after having big doubts after reading the comments. But to be honest, i truly think it sounds great. expected a LOT worse.

Love this album but sadly disappointed with this press. Bought two different ones that have a weird shuttling sound on Space Dementia.

Pretty average all around I’d say. It sounds pretty flat (as opposed to the records themselves which are slightly warped), and it’s lacking in dynamics. Pretty noisy too.
Also I don’t know how this is possible, but this is the first record I’ve ever played that shot past the dead wax at the end of D3 and the needle was guided right onto the label. -

Gotta say I love the remixes, much more clarity and definition in them. The extra strings in Space Dementia gave me goosebumps.
At first play there were some static bursts on the first record, but that went away after cleaning. My only issue is a slight warp on the orange disc, and the runout groove seems to be not deep enough on the D side (or E if you so want), the needle slides right onto the label which sucks. -
I do not own an original vinyl copy, but this blows my CD out of the water. Vocals do get mixed a bit too far back in ages, but bright & open sound & interesting remix

This is really cool looking and sounds good ! The only bad part is that 2 seconds of the intro to Micro Cuts are missing, which is what happened with the first digital version they released in June.
