Edited 3 months agoThis really does not sound great, despite what anyone else here might write. It has a very rolled off high end, lacks detail, and has no punch. The CD, while brickwalled, has much better EQ and extended upper end. This sounds like someone took the CD and turned down all the treble, then threw blankets over the speakers. Pity...this album could really use a nice, punchy mastering!

Watch out buyers! All reissues for sale here, US 1st pressing is out of print and hard to find! These listed here are cheap reissues from after 2020, don't be scammed!

Edited one year agoMy copy sounds very bad on the A face, like very compressed. For example on Map of the problematique the voices are saturated and crispy. But side B sounds good.

Wish this was 2 discs, but the mastering is great overall. Dirty as hell from GZ (what do you expect) but a good clean can fix that.

Visible scuffs from the paper sleeve, music crammed on one disc when perhaps should have been spread across two...and somehow one of the better sounding records in my collection. Zero surface noise, and all the punch and subtleties just where you want them. Listening to this piece of wax raised the album in my esteem :)

The vinyl itself is in a paper sleeve, so expect some static electricity. After dry brushing then wet brushing away the manufacturing debris, I ran an anti-static brush over it and managed to get rid of it.
The record itself sounds amazing. Super punchy and dynamic. I highly recommend it.

Sadly my copy of this sounded very thin, muted and lacking in just about everything. Kind of odd when comparing to The 2nd Law which sounds absolutely fantastic. I did not win the vinyl lottery this time.
