Recorded live at Los Angeles Amphitheatre, L.A. California, USA 1974, September 5, as part of the BBC coverage of Bowie's 1974 tour and then current period. This just came sealed in the mail. I made a $55 offer on ebay had no idea the seller accepted it. I've been waiting 7 years for this... but I have to run errands all day so I gotta wait. Any thing by Bowie on vinyl is worth it js

Consigliato -
A fantastic release. I hadn’t heard it since I bought it on vinyl on RSD so I bought it on cd recently and I must say it is a magnificent live album. A go-getter!

Edited 2 years agoWonderful. So many variations and detours from the studio versions. Aladdin Sane is a great example with the salsa/rhumba breakout jam in the middle. The backing vocals fill these songs with so much extra soul, All the young dudes & rock n roll with me highlight this perfectly. 5 star release this.

This is great. A really interesting balance next to David Live and the Im Only Dancing release. I rate David Live highly - especially the 2005 Visconti revamp but the performances on Cracked Actor sound so much more dynamic and lively imo. I picked a sealed copy up for £35 which I’m more than happy with. Only negatives- the front sleeve photo is mediocre. For such a visual tour Cracked Actor deserves something much better. And talking of visuals, my other negative is that it’s a real shame there’s no blu ray recording of a Dogs/Philly Dogs show. I think the only imagery I’ve seen of that era are the various photos doing the rounds, and the brief clips on the Cracked Actor documentary (That needs to be released too)
I never saw Bowie live in spite of being a fan since 1972 but if I had a time machine I’d whizz myself back to the Sigma Studios, where I’d hang out and be a Sigma kid, before zooming off to see a Philly Dogs show. I read negative comments about the Young Americans album way too often, but IMO it’s a gem. We’re going through a bit of a heatwave here in the UK at the moment and I’ve been spinning YA a lot. Goes well with the sunny weather and a couple of glasses of rum.
I digress. Buy Cracked Actor if you’re on the fence and you want a different angle to the David Live experience. -
I have this on CD and vinyl. Both of them are amazing. They sound clear, good, loud and enjoyable! This is one of my favorite Bowie era. I'm glad with my RSD vinyl edition, but man.... those prices are a little bit overrated. hahaha

My mam really likes the music on this vinyl release, she says it is of good quality for a live recording and that David is in fine form. However, as she has said several times to me now, they really should have picked a photo of David Bowie that wasn't all blurry for the front cover. Surely EMI and Parlophone must have one they could have used that is in focus? My mam says for that reason, this album is only allowed four stars out of five stars.

Sanitised and edited down Super Golden Radio shows bootleg, most Bowie chat now missing and so is street/dork barking intro
