Black Midi – Cavalcade

Mix is super muddy and quiet. But I don’t have the surface noise people are claiming

It sounds ok, lots of surface noise that usually gets covered by the loud instrumentation and my copy has a slight warp that doesn't affect playback. I got my copy for free so I'm not complaining, retail is still fairly cheap on it too. My disc also came COVERED in a strange, greasy substance that has left permanent stains in the dead wax that looks like dried sweat on a black shirt. This would've REALLY benefited from being a 2 disc release.

EDIT: Horrible inner groove distortion and compression too, especially on the last track

Personally, my copy sounds pretty horrible. Also, Diamond Stuff should really be on the second side of the record... it just annoys me a whole lot for some reason.

Would be curious to know if anyone is selling the comic book that accompanied this, I missed out on it when it was on sale at their store :/

Wow. This is a step up from the black 180g pressing, ironically enough. The first picture disc I've heard that is actually worth listening to. Not amazing in any way, about on par with digital, but still very noisy.

Noisy pressing. Plus the inclusion of Diamond Stuff on side A is a baffling decision,especially when you realize the transition. Not dynamic either.

who's the singer on the carpenters cover? Is there credit anywhere on that CDr?

Too bad, my copy also has pronounced noise in silent parts. The music though is extraordinarily fabulous.

Pretty mid pressing, some clicks here and there but like the previous review, nothing distracting. Soundstage should really have been more open for the crescendo of the many instruments. Glad to have the White flexi disc since King Crimson is an all time fave, but otherwise I'm not super thrilled on the quality of this pressing.
