Just pick up this great DLP, Cleaned, and Spun...Both LP's are flat, No fingerprints but plenty of paper bits, surface noise is lite (Side A/ lite at the beginning fades within a few rotations Side B/ lite but audible on soft parts Side C/ very lite Side D/ very lite), and the sound is damn good (nice stage/depth, no distortion on peaks, and tones are right. I would recommend at least 1 Sub, but with 2 Subs in stereo, I don't think they mashed down the Bass into Mono because on Side C you can hear the Bass and feel the pressure go to the right heavily). All in all, it sounds very good on my modest set-up...
(Fluance RT-82 w/Acrylic Platter, ATN-XP cart/5 stylus. Nobsound T3 Phono Amp, Aiyima A07 Pro, Kicker KB6B, & 2x Polk PSW10 Subs...Simple Low Cost Setup)...Happy Listening -
Edited 29 days agoI picked up variant 2 from a local record store and despite the amount of dust and cardboard bits, after a careful cleaning, everything plays really well. The sleeve art is fantastic. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the purchase.

Edited 3 months agoSublime album with an incredible range of powerful dynamics that are used in an emotionally masterful way. A one-trick pony? Probably, but when the mood strikes, there is not much post-rock that can compare except for Radiohead, Sigur Rós, and Talk Talk. Only here it's instrumental. I was worried about the pressing and when I unpacked the discs they were indeed dirty and fingerprinted. I carefully cleaned them with microfiber cloth and Mofi cleaning liquid and immediately put them into new, poly Mofi sleeves. They sound great now without any noise. Ultrasonic cleaning was to be the next step, but it was not needed for my copy. I will count myself lucky. If you purchase, cleaning them well first is not optional.

amazing album that changed my life i am so blessed to have found it at the record shop the first time i ever went to one

Have variant 2, I can attest to the claims that this record is extremely dirty and dusty straight out of the factory.

I am beginning to think that the consistent level of reported dust, random detritus and what appears to be actual hand prints overlaying what seems to be a quite good pressing must be conceptual in nature …?

Edited one year agoHaving carefully extracted the vinyl from the paper sleeves and blown the debris off and then cleaned the vinyl it performed perfectly. Pleased. Variant 3 purchased.

Kind of iffy on this pressing, the general sound quality and mixing is good, but there's a lot of manufacturing errors (scuffs, fingerprints) all over the LPs. On top of that, there's quite a bit of pops, clicks, crackles, etc. throughout the music. It's cool to have, though.
Pretty flawed pressing, but it's not inherently awful, just wish the treatment was better. -
Edited one year agoWith a lot of scary reviews I was pretty worried when ordering a copy from amazon. Once I got my copy yeah it was really dusty/paper residue-y from the sleeves and had mysterious amount of fingerprints. Which after 120+ records I’ve never seen actual fingerprints on a mint sealed record but it was no biggie, I noticed no issue in sound on all sides. after a good clean it actually played perfectly! As someone else said it’s definitely not the quietist record in my collection, but it doesn’t skip, and doesn’t have any huge issues that would get me to consider a refund. Either I just got lucky or people are overreacting, either way this is a great album and should be in everyone’s collection :)

I was very confused by the amount of dust, fingerprints/smudges that I found on this record. Not only is there surface noise and static issues on some parts of Storm, but the skip on Sleep is the most notable. The overall sound quality of this pressing sounded decent to my ears, though, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed by the shape in which the vinyl was in even newly purchased. Unsure why the pressing plant treated such a masterful album with such little care.
