I owned 75 anny pressing of this album for few years and thought it sounded OK, until I got the Tone Poet version few months ago - my oh my, the difference is truly noticeable, especially if you have a decent system at home. The 75 edition definitely adds that digital artifact, especially noticeable on high end frequencies and simply sound flat overall. The Tone Poet Stereo pressing gave it another dimension where you don't hear the left and right channel separation but the music comes from the middle and from the back of the speakers and the bass now hits deeper. Truly spectacular job by Kevin Gray, thanks Joe Harley for selecting this album for Tone Poet even though you said you won't be releasing any of the BN titles you already did as part of your Music Matters pressings in the past.

I prefer the other release in my collection: John Coltrane - Blue Train. Better separation and stereo image. But this one isn't bad at all. And the music is the stuff dreams are made off...

Was considering picking up the Tone Poet edition on sale, and just threw this copy on. Wow does this sound even better than I ! No point in overspending when this copy is great for me.

Fantastic pressing: nice, heavy and dead silent. I find it to be a little too bright especially on the cymbals, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. Came with a cardstock inner sleeve celebrating the anniversary of Blue Note Records and showing their releases for that occasion.

Was supposed to receive this, but I got this John Coltrane - Blue Train release instead.
Can anybody tell me the sound difference between the two so I know if should return the wrong one for the original one I wanted? I actually wanted this specific version as so many vouched for it, so that's why I'm unsure. -
I'm trying to find a reason to buy the Tone Poet version...but, I can't...this is spot on, absolutely flawless. Its detailed, rich and dynamic! Not sure about being too bright? It leaps out and grabs you!

Really excellent sounding record for an affordable price.
Despite or maybe because of the HD digital remastering ;-)
Vinyl has almost no noise and is very flat. Regarding this characteristics this version is really cheap! -
I bought this record for 14.95 euros plus shipping. For its price, it is outstanding. Yes, it does sound a tad bright, but never abrasively or unpleasantly so. The pressing was dead quiet, no noise, no clicks or pops. Way better than the CD I own of the same title, actually. I see no reason for spending more on this record unless you have a system costing upward of 5.000. The album cover is not of great quality and the b&w pictures in the back leave something to be desired, but you get a nice inner sleeve and a nice promotion sheet for select Blue Note titles. For the price, this is a steal.

I believe my copy is same/similar sounding but dead wax matrix numbers conform to this version (some people report it’s mono source): https://discogs.descargarjuegos.org/release/15442799-John-Coltrane-Blue-Train. Anyways my copy has very decent stereo separation and good sound stage. Punchy bass nothing harsh in treble area, great value for the Cad$20 I paid for.
