I’ve had this copy for a few months now. I also picked up the RTI pressed legacy mono. I prefer the legacy mono. On the MOFI the rest of the instruments behind the horns are a little bit buried. It’s not a bad pressing and had I never heard the legacy I could have been happy with it but the legacy is just a bit more airy, engaging and nuanced. The packaging on the MOFI is better.

Edited 3 years agoHow does the piano sound on this mofi release? I've only ever listened to this album digitally but I prefer the stereo in some ways (even though it's duophonic) because the piano is actually audible whereas in the mono it's really buried sounding and I'd assume the original mono pressings sound like that as well.

Excellent pressing of this Miles Davis classic. Nice mono sound, clear and punchy. Fantastic clarity on all instruments.

This must be one of my fave reissues from mofi. Incredibly well balanced (no booming bass) and warm, detailed sound. Really wonderful edition.
-
Absolutely gorgeous.
Punchy mono sound, with crisp clear details and plenty of warmth.
Dead silent, flat vinyl.
-
While is it super quite and the vinyl is perfectly flat the soundstage isn't as large as other Miles MOFI releases. It still sounds good just not as good as some other titles.

I was very surprised recently when I listen to this album and noticed it was pressed on the new super vinyl. Very quiet noise floor with no tape hiss I hear.
