Edited one year agoPerhaps my favorite The Cure album of them all, and they have such many good records, so that is quite a statement for me. The atmosphere is very Cure like, and all the songs here are equally strong, no weak moment available on this one.
Production is sublime, like in every 80`s cure album. Try to find a clean copy and prepare to be amazed if you have a decent system. I have not compared to other releases, but I doubt you can do better than this German pressing - well maybe with the UK original, but the price to quality ratio...
Pressing *****

Sound is brilliant, I am at awe, so much depth! Would be interesting to compare to a new press, just to see what everyone is missing.
-
YES! This one and the following Faith sound absolutely excellent! On my system these are among the best sounding standard pressings. HIGHLY recommended!

This is a great sounding version. Deep bass, nice punchy drums, excellent clarity and definition in the instruments. Atmospheric soundstage. Pure, clean tones. A flawless pressing that plays dead silent.

Edited 7 years agoThere is a curious issue of this West pressing which comes with the glossy cover (no barcode) which is actually the UK LP from the pre barcode glossy era (c. 1984)-same labels as those shown. We have a few so presume that UK factory ran out of UK discs but had plenty of sleeves and shipped some WG discs in whilst UK pressing plant was otherwise busy. Very similar matrices to those given with slight variation in the 'after' numbers/letters.
