Finally found a copy of this in the wild. KG cut and everything. Sounds fantastic. Rich and very big presence, plus a great presentation with the thick Stoughton jacket

Purchased new and sealed. I opened it to find that the vinyl had a chunk missing out of it. The chunk was not in the sleeve. Surprised me given this was pressed at RTI

Edited one year agoHeads up to buyers. The 2014 and 2020 European release (with completely different mastering and pressing plant) share the same barcode AND hype sticker as this 2006 US release. The only way to differ if it’s sealed is the RTI sticker on the shrink wrap. If opened look for the WB palm tree labels and of course KPG/SH@ATM in the runouts. The later European releases have the plain white pinstripe WB labels. Many sellers have the later EU pressing listed here going off the barcode on the hype sticker. Happy turntabling to all and to all a good night!

I would like to have your problems...;) my pressing is K 56 603, bass and others are fine, but tracks A1 and A2 are not splitted and sounds like one track, without interval

Per Steve Hoffman:
"Mastering 'Tres Hombres' was pretty straightforward. The flat sound of the tapes were not suitable for disk cutting (way too much bass, no midrange, little top end). Typical stuff mixed on over-bright Altec studio monitors. So, I added a bit of mids and top here and there, not wanting to overpower the sound of the original record and tried to make the bass as linear sounding as possible without reducing its impact. One thing I didn't do (that the old London LP cuttings did) was to add 2:1 compression. I thought the album sounded great without it; nicely dynamic. Smooth and warm but still punchy without being strident or harsh.
I gave Warner/Rhino a choice in which LP mastering we did sounded best to them and they picked the version that I liked the best (less upper midrange/lower treble stress) so bless them!" -
Fantastic pressing. This replaced my '79 WB pressing. This one is better in every way. Not bass heavy as others suggest. My Rhino of Deguello sounds similar to this with nice low end IMO.

super bass heavy, can barely hear Billys guitar work, but I do have a beginner set up. So, hopefully once I upgrade it will sound better
