Exceptional mastering and sound - deep, detailed and alive. Sounds awesome.
Some light occasional distortions - I guess the setup must be perfectly adjusted for this record.
Great embossed packaging with cool artwork. Not the quietest sufrace, but nothing serious in of vinyl quality. -

Edited 7 months agoOne could have summarized the whole, confusing jumble of
'The Smile' in a small 10" with the following tracks:
1. INSTANT PSALM (early)
2. THE SAME
3. YOU WILL NEVER WORK IN THE TELEVISION AGAIN
4. READ THE ROOM
5. YOU KNOW ME!
6. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TOMORROW BRINGS
7. SPEECH BUBBLES
Then it would have been something!
For me this is not the best Radiohead side project! -
Un 1er album magnifique même si on sent que le trio cherche encore le son et l'identité musicale du groupe, sinon pressage excellent et superbe pochette

I guess I'd better give up buying any more LPs from XL, since I'm just weary of this dumb lottery. I originally picked up a yellow limited edition, which turned out to be relatively decent, apart from awful distortions all over Open The Floodgates and The Same. Plus occasional pops and cracks on top, of course. So I decided to give this regular black edition a go. Sides B & D are superb soundwise (no audible defects whatsoever), but unfortunately Disc 1 is severely warped, which makes The Same almost unlistenable with appalling distortions, pops and crackle galore. Apart from that, Open The Floodgates has exactly the same distortions as the yellow edition, which literally ruins this beautiful track...

After cleaning using a vpi 16.5 and using a record clamp for the warp it has a dead silent background and plays beautifully! Having a fine line or micro line stylus helps too.
-
Slightly noisy pressing in parts, especially near the run outs (as usual) but overall a good pressing. Lovely mastering by RL!

Everything plays nice and sounds alright in my copy but there is a lot of surface noise especially on the edges. Not really a deal breaker but was a bit disappointed by it!

Kindle of a mixed pressing Disc 1 was slightly warped but playable However disc 2 side one was pretttyyyyyyyy full of distortion side 2 Was OK,great album tho and got the record for 20$ so it’s ok
