What type of inner sleeves did the discs come in? I bought my copy second hand from a local store (kinda odd cuz it just was released) and mine came in generic white. The reason I ask is because the discs are visibly scratched as hell. Sides 2 & 3 look the worst on mine. Most of the marks appear pretty light, but still a new record shouldn't look this bad.
In regards to the overall sound quality, I'm actually surprised. I was worried when buying this that it would just be a shitty digital transfer, but that isnt the case. I'm still assuming it's a digital transfer, but it's not bad at all. It's a really enjoyable listen. I usually don't buy a lot of albums on vinyl that were originally exclusively released on cd, as 1. The vinyl reissue sound quality usually won't beat the original cd and 2. It just feels a bit weird and inauthentic. But Morningrise features one of my favorite album covers and I haven't been reaching for my CDs a lot lately, so why not?
I can't 100% the rsd retail price for this one, but I believe it was $38-40 USD. Yes, it's much better than resale for older pressings of the album, but still I find a $40 tag on something like this to be a bit excessive. Not blaming opeth or even the label, but these rsd prices are getting out of hand, which is why I always wait for resale or markdowns. I ended up paying $25 for mine which I think is fair. Obviously if you love and need this album, pay as much as you desire. I'm aware it's only $10 or so more, but I don't see how a record like this can be retailed over $30.

2 days ago I accidentally found this in a record store near Toronto. T was left over from the June 12 RSD. So happy until I tried to play it. Both discs are exactly the same. I can take it back but I'd rather have the album. No one else seems to have a copy. Not happy anymore. However, there seems to be mixed reviews as to the quality of the pressing.

My copy had a lot of surface noise on sides C and D, but even with that, this is a great alternative to paying $90+ for the 2013 pressing.

I just purchased this version new at a nearby record store this morning and was quite pleased to come across it. I’ve been meaning for a long time to start getting some Opeth records and this is my first one. Usually the band’s LPs are rather pricey compared to other Metal records that I’ve seen anyway so I was pleased to find this for under $30. Side A came with a giant mark on it through all of track 1 and half of track 2 which also caused some surface noise and is the only reason I gave this 4 out of 5. Other then that I would definitely recommend this version. It sounds great on my Audio Technica LP-60 and comes in a cool transparent blue color double LP. If you like the band and don’t have this then definitely get a copy you will be pleased.

Did anyone get a copy with 2 of the second record and want to trade? I got 2 of the first record.

It is actually a translucent turquoise. Gorgeous color that most cameras cannot photograph properly.
