I bought this for pretty cheap 10+ years ago, I think around the time of the Rhino Load/Reload LP re-issues. This original was cheaper, so. Few seemed to care. I don't how it compares to my now-gone original CD, but a nice pressing by George Marino (RIP), who cut/mastered Master of Puppets, if I right.

I have nothing else to add. Everyone in the comments below said it best.
Blows the other pressings out of the ocean. If you adore this album don’t settle for Blackened remaster pressings. Get this pressing. -
Got this back in February 2022, This is huge sounding, has great energy! Lots of presence and is a departure sound qualitywise from the black album. The black album had super heavy snare drum and cymbals from Lars, this time he's set a bit further back and the bass guitar and midrange energy come through.

I think Metallica has a pretty great trajectory. The first 3 albums kept building of the last and are all milestones in thrash development. AJFA added a little bit of progressive approach. Black album pooled all they built and put a super sheen over it. Load is far from a sell out. They easily could have back tracked or kept making black albums. Load is a great album of songs that are hard and heavy but not thrash. If not for their makeover to go along with it I believe the album would have went down easier for some individuals. They did seem lost I think after this album until we get back to Death Magnetic.

Actually enjoy the the first record except bleeding me. If it wasn’t worth anything I would just throw the second one away, Garbage music. If you got a problem you can fight me! Anyways, I’m here to write about the sound not my Opinion on the album… it sounds very good. I managed to score a sealed one a little while back. Cover and inner sleeves are very well made, It sounds very Clean and has great backbone to it. Lots of bass, very crankable and not harsh at all. One of the best sounding Pressings. Very clean! Hope this helped. Try to hunt down a ‘96 pressing.

Edited 4 years agoThis album brings back memories of sad days in the history of Thrash Metal. A few years after the Black Album everyone was stoked that the new Metallica was coming out. I went to the local record store, grabbed the demo copy and gave it a listen. Shocked with disbelief, songs like 2x4, Ain't My Bitch and Hero of the Day. Wow it felt like someone replaced the band with the Foo Fighters. After this Thrash Metal was all but dead, only kept alive by Slayer, Anthrax and Sepultura because Megadeths release at this time were attempting to copy Metallica success releasing The Black Album and more radio friendly material. After years of ignoring this turd I have since reviewed the record and there are some good songs. Good Metallica songs, NOT AT ALL. Good rock songs for radio play, sure. In case you didn't know the cover is blood and seman. Thanks Metallica, LAME.
