I just got this and listened to it for the first time and all I can say is wow. This pressing is raw and sounds the way it was meant to sound. I feel like 240 dollars for this in the shrink wrap was a steal. I have the Org pressing on clear vinyl as well. I love the ORG don't get me wrong, but this is better because it feels more genuine and unfiltered. Definitely recommend.

Just stellar. Raw intimate vocals sung with ion. The rhythm section is a powerhouse. This pressing is how this band should be heard.

Edited 3 years agoI own both original & ORG mastered by genius Bernie Grundman. There will never be a better sound that the first pressing. Here major differences I perceive; On the original you can hear a more intimate voice on the ORG sound is a little shinier (which I like a lot) some curios fact. the song "Stain" sounds a lot better on the ORG version, with more kick than the original! this is a compilation and the master tapes came from different sources (Sub Pop - Geffen

Between the ORG and the first press, I still prefer the original. A more raw and true sound. But, the ORG is almost as good.

I thought the ORG reissue sounded amazing (which it does in its own right) until I heard this original. There’s a reason people tend to favor original presses and this album proves it. The sheer definition and richness of the music attacks you, not holding anything back. The vocals are more detailed and defined. The drums and bass are supercharged just giving the songs extra life and adding a thickness to the music that is unmatched in the reissue. The soundstage more focused and direct while still sounding big and powerful. However, the sibilance is still there on Been A Son but not as prominent (so it’s part of the original recording). After hearing several original Nirvana albums vs. their ORG reissue counterparts, I have to say the originals have the edge and have a more realistic, true sound. While the ORGs do not sound bad by any means. The originals just get you closer to that analog purity. Seek out this original if you want the absolute best this album can sound.
