Best version of this release for my money.
There’s a lot of noise during Keeping The Blade, with an audible pop in the same spot throughout the track- this promptly disappears on Welcome Home and the record just sounds better as it goes on.
By the time you’re at The Willing Well (I LOVE that they dedicated an entire LP to this suite) it’s an absolute eargasm with the remaster job really pulling its weight.
For a record that has so many details buried in its thick production, this release and remaster really brings them to the forefront.
I’d say with confidence that this is my favourite Coheed album, although IKS and The Afterman as a whole come nipping at its heels.
I queued up on RSD 2017 to get this special release and it was so worth it. -

Surprised there hasn't been at least one review of the sound, so let me say that after the disappointment that was the IKSSE:3 repress, this one comes as a breath of fresh air. After a good cleaning there were still quite a few clicks throughout most of the tracks (which I've come to expect from new vinyl anyway), but there were no loud, jarring pops and the surface noise was low to very light! During the silent parts I could really focus on the music, even while wearing headphones. Even if it is the same as the digital remaster, they did a superb job transferring it to vinyl (although after a few listens I'm wondering if the vinyl and digital remasters were done separately?). Excellent dynamics throughout, nothing sounds terribly squashed like with IKSSE:3.

The North American and Europe versions are not the same. The version for Europe has a black and white hype sticker and is also on sony records. It's odd that it says splatter because It's definitely a swirl. Looks identical to MCR's Black Parade Hot Topic variant. All that aside, it sounds gorgeous and I'm so glad to finally have it in my collection. Waited outside a record store at 3AM to snag it, worth it.

Won't be a quick sell out, so for God's sake - try your local indie record store before buying from the reselling dickheads.

I gotta say you people gouging are complete jackasses. My local store didn't even have this record today.
