Donovan – Donovan's Greatest Hits

Great compilation, and a great sounding pressing to my ears. I purchased this SEALED with the “Nice Price” hype sticker still present for $14, which may be overpriced for some, but I’m glad I bought it.

Picked this up in a bargan bin, suprisinly in good condition and a good press too, everything is the same as listed here, but my copy is transluent like an Irish pressing, but no double dip center or in runout so im not sure its enough to do a new submission as an irish press with UK labels, however PYE did have a 50% stake in Carlton Productions in 1972, so what do you think?

Found a very nice copy at a flea market and it cleaned up well. Sounds pretty decent to my ears and takes me back to many times discovering the world of psychedelic in my youth and all it's music had to offer. One of the OG's of the trade and his music took you places for sure. This pressing sounds really good over all.

Earliest pressing from Canada thicker heavier pressing and very nice mastering with heavy loud mix unlike some other Donovan reissues that sound wimpy in comparison.

This was my intro to Donovan's music, and it's an excellent primer. The re-recordings of "Colours" and "Catch the Wind" are really nice, and aren't too easy to find elsewhere. My copy sounds nice, although that 'reprocessed stereo' on "Mellow Yellow" is one of the worst things humans ever invented.

In addition to this essential album I would recommend Sunshine Superman which has great songs that are not included here such as Bert's Blues, Ferris Wheel, Celeste, Legend of a Girl Child Linda

Unbelievable sounding LP, featuring some incredible stereo-mixes of these psychedelic-pop gems. With the exception of the re-channeled/mono version of 'Mellow Yellow' this LP sounds so wide, spacious & groovy it's mind blowing. Especially the stereo-mixed 'Colours', which features amazingly subterranean bass organ courtesy of The Mighty Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones! The stereo-mix for 'Catch The Wind' is also phenomenal & I believe unavailable elsewhere. All in all this slab of 1960's hot-wax is awesome, just awesome...

A compilation of early psychedelic rock from this UK folk rockster. Highlights are "Sunshine Superman", "Mellow Yellow", and "Season of the Witch", with was also covered on Al Kooper/Stephen Stills' "Super Sessions".

This is a super clean copy from '79. Sounds great and pressing has no issues. 3.5 stars.

A great starting place for a listener who is just discovering Donovan. There's some well-known cuts on this album, as well as some lesser-known tracks. A solid compilation of Donovan's mid-to-late 60's work.

What a short sighted review.
Donovan is one of the biggest and most original and best writers, and singers ,from a period that exploded with originality and talent., that continues unabated to today. With few misses. The complete albums these hits came from are each veritable classics. There are also a couple of singles, single version s, and excellent updated remakes of a few of his bigger earliest folks songs ,with strings and backings added that the originals did not have .
The only thing you need from Donovan ! I would expect (hope)that reviewer just never heard Donovan's albums
