Deep Forest – Sweet Lullaby (5 Remixes)

Like Vart comment below i it being used on SBS TV adds back in the day, and yeagh the early 90's was THE time period when tribal and ethnic vocals were used with greeat effect and not just worlde music but also house, trance, techno were utilizing eastern, tribal vocals resulting in some of the best music from ther fab 90's.
My gripe with sweet lullaby is why did they market the vocals as African pygmy singing when in fact the vocals were sampled from Solomon islands, that has always seemed dishonest to me, was it because Africa was thought of as more exotic maybe and therefor may sell more copies if people thought the vocals were African as apposed to coming from The Solomon Islands which is a pretty obscure part of the world unless you really know your geography, I was born in Papua New Guinea so that part of the world has always held some sort of romance for me, dunno but i'm not going to be too critical abouit it but yes it would have been nice for Afunakwa to get some credit instead of African pymies.

Sweet Lullaby is an influential record for me. The song was used as a promotional station ID for SBS TV in Australia. Fitting choice as the channel also opened my eyes to the world outside Australia through their excellent programming of nature documentaries, world cinema and world music. The 90's was a golden era for sampling global sounds in mainstream music.

Wow. What a tune (Round the World mix). Absolutely stunning piece of acidy, progressivey, tribally infused atmospheric house...a staple for gods such as Vertigo, Sasha etc..amazing piece of music..👍🏻😁✌🏻🎶

The Round The World Mix sounds like it's in mono, but by doing a null test, you can hear that some of the rhythm parts (the hi hats, the whistle, a bit of the bass drum, and a few more) are on a stereo field.

When ordering this title I'd suggest first confirming with the seller that the hype sticker does NOT show a catalog number of "49 74919-52" as that is the standard black version. Both the green and black are listed on discogs as catalog # 49 74919.

"Sweet Lullaby (Round The World Mix)" is a blissful, classic example from the 1st part of the 90s deep-house scene in Europe, after the 1st Chicago/Detroit shockwave, when everything was still optimistic and possible.
I mean, we're talking here of brain glueing Solomon Islands folklore vocal samples over simple tribal house and dreamy pads and hop! there you go, a bona fide, magic deep house classic, still relevant after 20 years. But on these faithful and naive times, everything was possible...

Only one comment to make, the "Round the world Remix" is a beautiful piece of deep house music.
