Anathema – The Silent Enigma

As mentioned by others, "Nocturnal Emission" and "A Dying Wish" indeed have a lower volume and have a more compressed sound, which is a big shame. However, I believe this press overall sounds better than the 2022 reissue which I also own.

This version is strangely mastered, and A Dying Wish (the 'hit') is 4 or 5 dB (a lot) quieter than the other loud songs for no apparent reason. Avoid and seek a different pressing IMO.

poor quality, this disc should be double, the sound is very compressed and noticeable in the low frequencies, they are swollen and distorted, too many minutes per side, the signal-to-noise ratio is very low, you will hear all the background noises of the format in quiet ages, Peavecille should think twice before releasing this like this, especially when a double LP already existed previously. Save your money.

mala calidad, este disco deberia de ser doble, el sonido esta muy comprimido y se nota en las frecuencias graves , estan inchadas y distorsionadas, demasiados minutos por cara, la relacion señal-ruido es muy baja, escucharas todos los ruidos de fondo del formato en pasajes tranquilos, Peavecille deberia de pensarselo dos veces antes de lanzar esto asi, sobretodo cuando ya existia anteriormente un doble LP. Ahorra tu dinero.

This is where Anathema really came into their own and it is unfortunate they never came close to matching the quality here, really a lightning in a bottle recording. An emotional and moving listen.

I`ve bought this LP recently. Well, is this release faulty? Songs "Nocturnal Emission" and "A Dying Wish" sound much worse than the rest of the album. They sound gloomy, compressed and even have a lower volume. The rest of the album sounds great.
Does anyone have the same problem? Or is it just me?

i got this version, but mine has on the cd the name of the band printed in blue color.

Very nice looking LP,unfortunately the noise floor is very high. Still great to have it in the collection, as it is an eye-catcher.

What about The Silent Enigma Japan limited edition? It comes with Eternal Rise Of The Sun as bonus track. Does anyone know something about it?

Correct release date was Release date: 20-10-2008.

Also this release was known as the Anniversary Edition.
