This is one of three versions I have. It’s almost the same quality in of sounds as the picture disk version from 1999. I’m thinking it’s a direct reissue of that pressing as the same clicks/pops and noise heard on the picture can be heard on this.
Comparing this version to my black box set version that is free of noise even in the quiet parts!
The art work is great but this pressing is a bit noisy! -

The only good memory left from this episode: Darrh Maul and this wonderful soundtrack -
The mix seems to be good but honestly the omnipresent surface noise kept me from getting into it, yes it’s that bad. Plus I didn’t like the order of songs here, it makes no sense to put the Duel of fates first, it should be one of the last songs, according to the rythm of the movie. I think that there is a 2 CD version that is way more respectful to the score.

Patricia Sullivan knocks it out of the park again with first class mastering on this and the other 5 Star Wars reissues. Hi-res is the best choice but the CDs still sound top notch.

Based on the reviews, I was afraid this was going to sound terrible but it's actually decent, considering it's a picture disc from 1999. Yes, there is a little surface noise here and there, but it's not THAT bad. I'm very happy with my purchase.

i purchasing the soundtrack before the release of the movie as a kid and being completely blown away by Duel of the Fates when i heard it for the first time. It was the coolest thing ever... -
John William’s is beyond incredible. Shame it’s a picture disc from 1999, and such a boring picture too. Might as well have gone with normal black vinyl, at least it’d sound better. Lots of pops and crackles.

I have variant 1 with cd cover being also a fold out poster. This "poster" has an orange border, Queen Amidala in center, Duel of Fates below, skeletal C-3PO w/ R2-D2 on left, Jar Jar Binks w/ Pod Racer Anakin on right and upper left hand corner "Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace" logo

It seems I have this version but mine has a red sticker that says in white letters "EVERY CD BOOKLET IS A STAR WARS FOLD-OUT POSTER! 0618162004". Should I edit this release? Where do I put my change?
