Dexter Gordon – Dexter Calling . . .

My copy is very good (purchased 6-21). No issue with pops/ticks with the colored vinyl, other than it has an unusually sharp edge on it. There's no hype or spars code concerning all analog anywhere so it probably is digitally sourced, but the LP mastering doesn't have any obvious compression that limits the range or soundstage of the LP. Sounds great on my system. VPI Scout, Dynavector 20X2 MC ctg, Prima Luna Dialogue amp, B&W 702 S2 speakers, JL Audio 10" sub.

This is a very nice sounding sax quartet record from Dexter Gordon, accompanied by Philly Joe, Kenny Drew, and Mr PC. Dexter's uptempo work is exciting, but where he really shines are the ballads. He plays a touching ballad.

There's some excellent playing by everybody on this record. Great sounding recording, engineered by RVG himself. Good pressing.

Beautiful. I love it. Silent vinyl, good separation of instruments…, that sax just hits you… it’s a great buy.

Mine came with “A Quality Records Pressing” hype sticker on it. Still has the same matrix runouts. Bought it from Acoustic Sounds recently. Repress using the RTI plates? Hm. Blue Note insert says pressed at RTI. Not numbered.

2500 copies, most of which appear to be listed for sale here on Discogs for absurd prices. Good luck!

What a strange stereo mix! Sax on the left and drums on the right. Previous digital versions had a much more centered mix.

For Gordon's second outing with Blue Note he utilises a quartet, and arguably what's left is a stronger team of musicians than on his Blue Note Début. Dexter's ed by the well seasoned rhythm section of Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones, ed by Kenny Drew on Piano. It's another solid hard bop date.
