For all those that frequented the Orange Rave nights from 1989 - 1990s and might be interested. Camden Palace, The Rocket, Astoria, Hippodrome etc recorded from a live stream.

You're welcome. I think the first stream I posted was blocked or removed due to Youtube (and Facebook's) copyright as is always the case. I believe Youtube and Facebook have the means to detect copyright on actual live real-time broadcast as well as recorded, ed content.

First half is acid house, house, hip-house, techno. Second half is happy ragga jungle. Not that keen on the second half. Horses for courses and all that.

What's happened to Squirrel? He doesn't appear on the streams anymore.

I'm assuming Squirrel also didn't feature at the Orange bash they did at Scala in Kings Cross in August either? Damn shame if that's the case. I always looked forward listening to him. The main reason I used to go to Camden Palace at the time to be honest.

I think squirrel and had a disagreement about something and he didn't appear on the night, but was on the flyer promoting the event. As you say, a shame, as Squirrel was a great mixer, and the palace mixer had no x fader either, so required a bit of creative work to deliver the results he did!!

Massive apologies for replying ever so late. It's a habit I have, I get distracted and then completely forget to come back :(

Firstly, I actually completely forgot that I'd posted the above somewhat open-ended question. It's 3 years ago already. It's a shame if it's true that there was controversy. And I agree that Squirrel was a great mixer, even for back then when many DJs weren't as proficient, some were already big name DJs. I heard about Camden Palace's mixer not having a fader but never took it seriously. Not that I'm surprised really. I wish I could listen to a few more original recordings other than the very few already ed online.

When they did the Scala nights in recent years I was tempted to go, but apart from other commitments and personal issues which definitely would've prevented me from going. I just was not feeling the line-up and the style of music. I wanted the authentic Camden Palace experience of 1988-1991( early 92) Acid House to Techno and early Hardcore. And if I'm not mistaken they concentrated on Jungle, Drum n Bass, Liquid, Happy Hardcore and current stuff for two years running. I can get the latter in lots of other places. And I'm not really into listening to an MC over most of the sets either.

I read / heard somewhere that Squirrel was on the latest line-up this summer at (Koko ... hate that name by the way) Camden Palace, not sure if it's been confirmed or not. Hope he's well anyway.

P.S. I was going to Camden Palace long before Orange Club's heyday. From back in 1988 when it was Acid House and I wasn't even aware that Orange Club was running, yet it was. Chris Paul also used to run his ''Trax'' night which was a little bit more of an underground Acid House night. I don't think ''Orange Club'' was weekly yet. Before then, was Eddie Richards, Colin Faver (r.i.p.) and Mr C. which was also a top Acid House night.

When I was still at school in the mid '80s I'd sneaked into Camden Palace with some of my pre Acid House pisshead lager lout, poser, ''Sharon and Trevor'' mates on a normal night and thought it was utter shite. Music policy was standard, commercial club music or Alternative Rock. So in 1988 when another unrelated mate tried to persuade me to go to an Acid House night there, I didn't believe him and expected the same old club music! The Palace was rough around the edges compared to loads of nearby West End clubs, but it was all the better for it. Rugged sound system, dancing on tables, stairs, balconies and speakers. Place used to shake. Even though it was an out and out nightclub, it had that warehouse party feel to it. Apologies for the massive post.

Did anyone here go to the Camden Palace Reunion a couple of months back? If so, does anyone know if DJ Squirrel played / attend? Also, was there any able footage / audio / USB stick available to order from anywhere? I've already searched but haven't found anything as of yet.
