The Most Valuable Releases Sold on Discogs in 2024

The most valuable releases sold on Discogs in 2024 include the first Nirvana single, a massive audiophile box set from Led Zeppelin, and other gems.
One of the most rewarding aspects of record collecting is the thrill of the hunt. Whether it’s tracking down a favorite release or an elusive rare pressing, the search for a personal grail keeps the journey exciting. For many collectors, the most coveted records are those that rarely change hands — first editions, small-batch misprints, and test pressings. Since these high-value items seldom appear in brick-and-mortar stores, Discogs has become the go-to destination for tracking them down, cementing its status as home to some of the world’s most valuable records.
In 2024, Discogs recorded some of its highest-priced sales ever. From hand-delivered records to long-rumored items finally surfacing, plus releases paired with unique merch like clutch bags, this year showcased the incredible variety and demand in the vinyl market. While many of the records listed below have sold out due to their rarity, you can add them to your “Wantlist” by clicking the “Want” button to be notified if they appear on the site again.

“All Tomorrow’s Parties”
The Velvet Underground & Nico
1966
In March 2024, a Discogs purchased a copy of the “Velvet Underground lore, fewer than ten copies of the single with its original picture sleeve are known to exist. To ensure its preservation, the seller personally flew with record in hand to deliver the purchase to the buyer.
Released a year before Verve Records issued an ultra-rare promotional 45 RPM single in July 1966 featuring “All Tomorrow’s Parties” and “I’ll Be Your Mirror” from the album.
The single’s picture sleeve is considered one of the rarest ever printed. Collector Andy Davis explains: “The sleeve to All Tomorrow’s Parties was never issued commercially and was only ever intended for promotional purposes. Legend has it that this cover was never packaged with actual vinyl copies. It has only ever surfaced as a paper artifact, and then only in single-figure quantities.”

Soft Sexy Soul
Susan Phillips
1971
The ultra-rare Soft Sexy Soul is a collector’s dream, so elusive that record hunters often debate its very existence on the Soul Source forums. When a copy appeared on Discogs in September, it sold for $20,000, ranking among the platform’s most expensive sales.
Despite the record’s allure, little is known about Susan Phillips. Fans on message boards have long speculated whether she performed under her real name or a pseudonym. Though there’s scant material or documentation about the artist, this single record has elevated her to near-mythical status among soul collectors.
For those hoping to hear the release on vinyl, a 2017 Soul Brother Records is frequently available on the Discogs Marketplace.
