Reviews
-
Cyberpunk jazz, what a concept. Some really good ideas going on here with the legendary Bill Laswell on the bass guitar. This is the final album of composer of Bob Belden, who ed of a heart attack mere days before this record was mastered and it may well be his magnum opus. This is some dark, dystopian, late night jazz that fills one with equal parts wonder and apprehension. There are elements of dub, illbient and drum & bass in here, all wrapped together with this eerie, mournful horn playing and some tripped out, early 70s Hancockesque synthesizer playing. In summary, I love everything about this record and am super happy I came across it, quite by happenstance, like so many other fantastic albums I've discovered in my years of digging. Oh, and the pressing sounds flawless. 10/10.
