The unsung hero of this release is the B-Side, DJ Harmony's remix of "Burning Deep". Circles may be the standout tune, but if you're really looking for a prime example of Jungle/DnB, all fingers point to the amazing remix with the Amen, Soul Pride and Think drums all over the place alongside its amazing bass. Really hoping ether Adam F or Harmony still has the DAT of the Original and/or Remix of Burning Deep to re-release on Deep Jungle for a Digital or Vinyl release. Or Moving Shadow has plans to put their Section 5 stuff on digital.

Big tune with a huge B side that does the damage. Circles is still as fresh today as it was back in 1995. A real head turner of a track. Adam was right up there for me as one of the greats of 90s Drum & Bass and Jungle. Legendary music from the golden age of UK dance music

              Quote

"Circles" got made at the beginning of '95 and at that stage I still wasn't known at all. I gave it to all the DJ's and didnt get any response.About 6 months later I gave it again to Groove and Ray Keith and all of a sudden it was 'Why didn't you give it to me before'.

In combining breakbeat impact with updated 70's jazz fusion of synthesiser chords, trumpets and flutes, tracks such as 'Circles' and 'Aromatherapy' dovetailed perfectly with Speed residents Bukem and Fabio's ion for melodic musicality in Drum n Bass.

'Circles' exemplified this new direction . Incorporating Bob James' fusion classic 'Westchester Lady' and slowing down the 808 bass tones, Adam invented a bass sound which messaged your heart rather than concussed you out. All the music was played live and it's not surprising that 'Cirlces' captivated the Drum n Bass world, played by DJ's across the board such as DJ Hype, Grooverider, Fabio and Goldie.

'Circles' went on to win single of the year at the 1996 Hardcore Dance Awards. '

                Adam F - Circles 12", heavy vinyl from 1995.

Catchy innovative jungle tune, using a classic jazz sample from Bob James 'Westchester Lady' in 1976.

Y'know you love a track when you recall the 1st time you heard it. I was lining up outside the London jungle club Turnmills back in the day, Circles was shaking the arena inside... I didn't know the ID of the tune, but some guy said/smiled 'Ah yeah - Adam F, Circles...'. Rinsed & deservedly so by the likes of DJ's Footloose (Kool FM 94.5) Fabio & LTJ Bukem.

                Good times for sure...

A stone cold classic no doubt, Krust used to drop this regularly as did Randall. The sample is from Bob James' Westchester Lady from 1976. It was a jazz classic back in the 70s. Inspired use of a sample and a lesson to any wannabe producer. As far as using samples goes, less is more, the simpler the theme, the better. One of my favourite all time releases I think.
