Ange a French band that makes progressive rock music. Peugeot a French car. Why do I make these comparisons? Simply because anyone who doesnt speak French understands the functional concepts band will either appreciate the way the damn stubborn French do things in their own intrinsic creative ways or snubs the whole cheese addicted nation alltogether. I for one took a while to discover the band and even longer to digest their unique je ne sais quoi style of dramatic rock music(esp the vocalist). Maybe not an emulative seed of what has been penned as a trad prog formula ala Genesis Yes ELP etc but interesting enough to nevertheless give this bands early albums a good spin. Le Cimetiere is a gem of an album to dig your ears into.

Just because you have a mellotron on the recording doesn't make it progressive. Just because you have weird ideas doesn't cut it either. This is a very poor album, big on concepts, small of musicianship and songwriting.

One of my favourite prog albums ever. If you don't understand French it's still worth a punt because of the wonderful melodies. Bursting with mellotron and jingly-jangly acoustic guitars you'll take to this from the off. Side two is the better of the two featuring the wonderful title track and its almost medieval sound, together with the excellent 'Fils de Lumiere'.
I simply cannot recommend this album highly enough.
