Edited 7 years agoFrom start to finish, this is 100% genius. If you don't know, chuck some bucks & grab a copy. Will leave a MASSIVE smile on your face... Both a sampling masterclass and a lesson in complex song writing, the use of the classic 'Popcorn' melody on the vocal of 'Happy Bear' is just one such highlight of a very clever album. It's hard to define the boundaries between what is sampled and what is organic, to the point of twisting your brain as you listen. While at a glance presenting itself as a downbeat/chillout/leftfield hip-hop LP, it is in fact every part a deep psychedelic masterpiece. Unique. 10/10 -
Edited 18 years agoOne of the greatest albums in the history of laidback, Vienna-style grooves. The songs are well based, bass oriented like hip-hop, but deep and funky with dub attitude. The rhythm structure of some songs seems very simple at first sight, the grooves are rare, full with air, however they let your head nod all the way.
