I have just purchased a copy of this with the "Stagger Lee" text on the back cover.
However, the matrix on side 1 is "CLASH-3-A4" (with no preceeding "CBS-S-"). Matrix on side 2 is "CL1-2 B3". The dead wax runout is physically longer than my other first pressings (all 5 of them) on both side A and B . I.e. the playing grooves for a smaller area of the record. Side A is cut much louder than all my other pressings and louder than the other 3 sides on this copy; to the point that it clips/distorts slightly on a couple of tracks.
Can anyone shed any light on this pressing as I can't find this exact one listed on discogs? Thanks. -
I have this from new and the matrices and details match exactly as far as I can see BUT the record came in plain white inner sleeves with two printed inserts with two sided printing of lyrics / credits. I see some for sale also list in this detail.
I bought this new and can be sure it came like this. -
Best way to hear this album. I have compared to an original Canadian pressing and the 2013 reissue. This tops them, not by a wide margin, but it is noticible on a good setup.
