Disappointed, plays like a CD, no surface noise, cold, digital sound, warped vinyl but doesn't affect play, the original US pressing sounds better....

Edited one year agoI find it hard to believe the Lacquer was cut by Chris Bellman and mastering was done by Wally. I thought anything with those names in the credits would sound amazing. Anyway I Just got mine today. I’m taking 2 stars away for Tight spindle holes and a dish warp. But the sound is decent. Nothing spectacular. Pretty positive it’s digital. I’m sure an original has much better fidelity… Meh. This will hold me over til I can find a nice condition original.
UPDATE: I just found a mint 1985 pressing and just as I thought. The OG 1985 press beats the Crap out of this reissue! THIS press is digitally sourced, as suspected. I’ll sell or give this pressing away -
I just received a new copy of this pressing. It is not the RTI Bellman cut. It is not bad, but if you want the Bellman cut make sure you ask the seller if CB is in the deadwax

My copy was still in shrink wrap. It was the solid red color. But when I examined it, there is an obvious concave/convex shape. Side A played fine. Side B is completely unplayable.

This is sort of strange... my brother and my friend both had copies of this, so I thought I'd get my own, cause I knew they still had a mint unopened one at my local record store. But my disc is slightly marbled, and a slightly transparent red-orange, as opposed to the other two copies I've seen, which are both flat red. Maybe mine is a strange misprint. Either way, it plays nice.

The record itself sounds fine. But man, Respect the Classics must not respect quality. The disc I bought, new and sealed, looked very well used when I opened it. The center label is cracked around the spindle hole, the record is scrated and dirty, and there were flecks of the vinyl inside the sleeve. Don't think I'll be picking anything else up from this label.

Ah... not a great pressing. I'm not sure if the music wasn't recorded well, because the sound seems to vary widely between songs. One minute you're hearing a compressed song, the next something like "Weird Science" comes across with pretty good instrument separation. Danny Elfman is one of the most intriguing songwriters and film composers of his generation and I hope this album gets a great remaster one day.

Does anyone else with this album have a weird jump/skip on side B / track 3 'Help Me'? Right at the end of the first line of the chorus? Got a copy and thought it was faulty, but replacement is doing the same thing in the same spot. Thanks, cheers.
