Just listened to this back-to-back with the original 1988 CD. The remaster is more compressed, so background details are more apparent, but it sounds a bit lifeless at the same time. Also, I get the impression the overall volume of the tracks has been averaged out. The original is quieter, and on first listen sounds thin/weak, but once the low frequencies have been boosted (and they ARE there), the music has more depth to it (maybe the background details are best left...in the background). The 1988 CD therefore sounds more organic.
