When did the name of track B2 change to "Haunting"?? I've always known it as "So Far Away" and indeed, that is what it says on my copy of this LP...

AR Kane were always far more hybrid than the strict 'shoegaze' or 'dreampop' (a term they contributed creating) tags they were labelled into (although being also part of MARRS, hence contributing launching the acid house craze in the UK).
Their noisy candypop had hints of free-jazz with blurred sexual singing a la Jimi Hendrix. So yes this first single (and basically most of their output until 1990) has aged now production-wise (especially the metallic, proto-industrial drums, a little too hammering) but it is still a visionary and influential piece of post-JAMC pop music, announcing all the My Bloody Valentines, Ride, Boo Radleys, Chapterhouse etc of the years to follow (not mentioning the multiple revivals and 'inspired by' that you can hear in many adventurous pop productions until this day).
