I have this one and the Nautilus Super Disk. I played that one, expected a lot, and thought it fell flat so I broke this one out to compare. All based on Side 2 ( my favorite side) this one kicks the Nautilus's butt. Much brighter and more alive. Bought this one new in '77, treated it right and it's still awesome.

Honestly this sounds much better than I thought. Large soundstage here, and very dynamic somehow. I’m really enjoying this album and this is a great way to experience it!!

Found a $9 copy today at my local shop. Cleaned it up, it sounds great. Almost no surface noise, nice clarity.
-
this is essentially their greatest hits album. I think of only, like, two songs off of this album that the radio stations then didn't play like clockwork. there are so many classics on this album and it sounds great!
-
Wide soundstage and good clarity overall. Not a masterpiece by any means but the best I've heard this album.
-
Beautiful sounding pressing of a legendary album. Great sound quality, quiet, dynamic and with beautiful stereo separation.
-
Ehhhhh…I’ll agree on the great soundstage and quality of pressing but the sound is too bright to my ears. It hurts when its turned up to and past cocktail party volume. Wish I could EQ it and shave some treble off of it!

Edited 2 years agoI have to add to the accolades of this pressing. I had the mofi and sold it because this SP pressing kicks its......
The drums on "You're All I Got Tonight" sound like they are inside my speakers trying to tear their way out! -
picked up a copy for $15, almost dead silent pressing, really punchy bass and great instrumentals––solid purchase
-
Just picked this up at Josey Records for 20. Still had shrink wrap and hype sticker. Visible surface scuffs, but completely clean when played.
Question: does anyone know what's so "special" about this pressing?
