The percussion and bass shine through this pressing - very warm and soothing. Coltrane’s chaotic sax is comparatively bright against this backdrop, like a deranged bird in a fever dream. Would recommend.

Edited one year agoVery pleased with this pressing. Previously had the Acoustic Sounds Series pressing, mastered by Ryan Smith, but found Coltrane's sax to be too far forward and quite harsh in places on that version. This Japanese pressing sounds much warmer, in comparison, with all instruments feeling much better balanced, without losing the power of Coltrane's performance. Furthermore, you get the quiet Japanese vinyl here, which is essential for the more subdued moments, such as the bass-breakdown in Pursuance.

Beautiful copy. Not harsh and bright like the remaster pressings you get at JB Hi-Fi or whatever. This really hits the spot. Sax sounds present and warm as hell. Beautiful beautiful beautiful!! The one to get if the original pressing is not necessary for you..
