Edited 3 months agoI've only been into vinyl for about 8 months and I'm wondering if I will really notice a difference on this and any UHQR vs the clean originals I have on the introductory setup I have or if I should wait until future upgrades.

Edited 6 months agoGood. Lord. The guitar solo that finishes glamour profession alone almost makes this worth it. This is very very good and worth it for anyone into Steely Dan. Only con is there is an ever so slight warp in disc one, but seems cosmetic only.

Outstanding sound on this. Almost as good.as the UHQR Aja and Can't Buy A Thrill releases, and those were simply exceptional.
-
It's sounds spectacular, worth every penny. One of the best reissues of the year and one of the best UHQR's to date.

Reading the negative reviews does make me chuckle while listening to this. Straight into the top 10 best sounding records (AP Aja and the Mofi Nightfly 1step included) that i own and not surprised to say this. It would take an idiot to make this sound bad in fairness. I do hope AP ditch these massive boxes and jist stick to quality tip on gatefolds like the 75th series gets. Also this series does mean unusually high numbers of warped records. Ive been blown away by all my UHQR bar the dire Tull Aqualung and good but not best Doors LA Woman 33 cut so far!
-
And another warped pressing. That is: Ultra High Quality warped and off centered for $150 that supposedly goes through quality control like none. :(

Edited 10 months agoAgree with previous review, org sounds so much more music without losing any info vs UHQR which is a let down in comparison sounding kind of thin and that famous 'kick' is missing that their productions so greatly create. 4 starts but no more. Played on Ortofon Diamond, Kuzma, TechDas

Well, I'll be honest, Aja is the best version as UHQR. With Gaucho, on the other hand, my old Gloversville pressing sounds significantly, really significantly better. More dynamics, more openness, more space. It's a good pressing, without a doubt, but given the huge price difference, the question is clear to me.

First play…mind well and truly blown. I don’t quite understand how an album I know backwards can reveal so much detail I’ve never heard before.
I’m more (pleasantly) taken aback than I was by the first play of the UHQR ‘Aja’.
