I'll stick with "B - El Niño (Original Mix)" as the classic Trance track here. While I do appreciate the skill of Matt's remix, which give it a more commercial sound, I don't think it's aged well. The original however just sounds classic!
-
Originally contained a sample from the acapella of 'La Puerta Del Sol' by Sueno Latino. Replaced later by a vocal from Marcella Woods.

IMHO, one of the best late 90's trance tunes. I wasn't old enough to go clubbing or Ibiza in 1998, I was still only 16! but man, I would have loved to have heard this in a club. The closest I got was an old Judge Jules live radio 1 broadcast from 1998 where he plays it, and even listening to that gave me the old trance goose bumps! It is a monster of a tune, the pads are beautiful, as are the synth leads, but the chords are just stunning - I like the way it all sound very dreamy, but pumping at the same time. Such a good track.
Anyway, I side with the original mix over Darey's - not that his mix is bad. The musical elements sit better in the original mix that Matt Darey's, which for me, has a very muddy mid rangey sound. I do like the Latin percussion from Darey's mix though.

I adore both these mixes, think the Matt Darey lifts me a bit more, never minded a bit of cheese. What a rocking tune!
-
The Matt Darey mix adds a level of cheese that isn't in the original in my opinion. A classic trance tune (Original mix).

Probably (just maybe...) the best progressive track ever written definitely on my TOP10 ranking as high as possible

Edited 7 years agoI miss those days, songs like this one really prove the trance music, has everything to be enjoy for anyone.
The rythim is awesome and the main melody combined with the vocals its mindblowing. A real anthem and a endless classic -
I Still prefer the Matt Darey Remix to this day. A classic piece of British Trance, from the Golden Era of the late 90s. My favorite Xtravaganza release. Still sounds powerful today.
