In of DSD Stereo layer.....Compared to the very clean and maybe abit boring AP version, this is alot punchier and has a wider soundstage. Its got a little compression as the downside but that helps it punch. This is a truly excellent SACD and i could easily see why folks would choose this over the AP who play things too safely too often with their digital media releases.

Haven’t listened to this for ages. Put on the surround SACD and was amazed again. This is sure one of my most impressive SACDs over the last 20 years. Reminds me why surround sound can be so addictive. I have the original vinyl of this as well and that’s equally impressive.

Edited 7 years agoWell produced and interesting Jazz Fusion album. This album in particular did incorporate small elements of synthpop by incorporating a drum machine. I can't attest to how the 5.1 mix is, but the 2 channel mix is very clean. My only complaint is that the 2 channel mix is a little bit too compressed. You can even here a few small imperfections with the master tape deteriorating, which is quite interesting. It would be near perfect if it was just a little less compressed.
