Excellent pressing! My copy does have very few slight ticks and pops throughout, but overall the dynamics are fantastic. A little bit lower volume, but this album was meant to be cracked high anyways. The drums and bass shine through and the guitars sound pretty great. Overall I'm pleasantly surprised by the sound quality after reading the other reviews.
The jacket is gorgeous with the full tip-on Stoughton gatefold treatment and gold foil embossing to boot. -
I agree with other reviews: my copy of this pressing does have quite a bit of pops...I have old records that sound quieter than this one did first time played. I cleaned it well, and used anti-static gun, but still pretty noisy. It's a shame; it's a great album. In comparison, The Consolers of The Lonely LP sounds pretty good...Unfortunately, I think the quality control and attention to making a great vinyl product has been lost in vinyl's recent resurgence - a lot of new records just sound bad, are defective or are scratched and warped brand new. I give Third Man Records credit for trying to make a good package: the LP is heavyweight, the album cover is a nice gatefold with a poster too. Even with a bit of popping, the music still sounds pretty good and it's not as loud or compressed as the CD. Let's hope that the recording industry can make a 100+ year-old format sound as good as it did - at least 25 or 30 years ago...

a very low volume press or recording. have to crank it up about 50% more than usual for standard volume. overall, sounds muted or muffled. not too impressed. TMR pressings have been all over the place with production quality issues. it's a shame, because I live so close and want to see businesses in the D survive.
