This song, along with the Unrelated Segments' next single "Where You Gonna Go" are highly sought after items for the garage rock collector. And deservedly so. The funny thing is this song was already a tad 'retro' for the year of its 1967 release. But there is a primitive charm to these songs that are both performed in frantic four four time...a certain excitement in the guitars and the nerdy/punk vocals. I prefer "Where You Gonna Go" with its adrenalin bass, but "Story of My Life" rocks just fine. Keep in mind, this is the same year as the release of "Sgt. Pepper's" and The Doors' first album. This song could have just as easily been born in 1964. Go figger...in 2010, it still sounds good.
