My copy is flat, clean and dead silent. The music is classic late 60s Morgan, the entire band is in top form especially Maupin but again everyone sounds great! The remaster and presentation of the music is awesome… dynamic, clear and spacious, everything u want in a classic BN record. Definitely a buy especially at these current low prices for this pressing.
I hesitated on this ( ed it by) for too long probably because of the cover, don’t make that mistake this is top shelf BN and Lee Morgan date! -
A gatefold in the Classic Vinyl Series, that's a welcome surprise. It has all the usual traits: flat, quiet, well-mastered. Not Lee's best but well worth the listen.

Third time is the charm for me, finally. My first two copies had non-fill pressing issues as some describe below. 3rd copy is perfect — silent noise floor, nice dynamic sound, etc.

Wonderful album and this pressing is excellent. My copy has zero defects including background noise. Don't hesitate. Lee Morgan and a great pressing as well!

Edited 2 years agoQuiet (not silent) pressing, great music. Clear, distinct bass. Piano sound is perhaps a little recessed. Wide soundstage. Really enjoyable listening experience. I am a huge Lee Morgan fan, but I must mention that Bennie Maupin really adds a lot to this album.

Outstanding lineup and great performance. All tracks are good (Soulita is the only one that goes a little goofy, but I still like it!). Anything with either Bennie Maupin or Cedar Walton is excellent - and this features both!
I gotta believe the cover art has depressed sales, at least in record stores. Yes, I know it's the original, but so what? The inner photo of Lee is nice. They could have repurposed that for the front cover and relegated the original cover photo to the inner, or dispensed with it altogether!
Either way, I'm glad BN took a chance on this one. Morgan recorded a lot of relatively unknown yet excellent albums in the late 60s.
