I saw Prince on the Welcome 2 America tour a lil over 10 years back. The night I saw him he played the deep cuts, the hits, and a few newer items, but nothing from the album this single comes from. Hearing this song though, I'm still curious why it was never released. It's definitely more prescient hearing it in the current day after it was in the vault for so long. Also, the gold pressing sounds great (the estate has been really hit and miss fidelity wise on these color vinyl pressings).
Also: don't pay inordinate prices for this on Discogs — I just bout it in the Sale section of the Prince website for a few bucks. -
this is now available at the gift shop in the Prince: "The Immersive Experience" in Chicago, not sure about the color variant. -
