Reviews

Held off on buying this due to overwhelmingly negative reviews. However my copy that I got today was flat, and dead silent.
Such a beautiful album! I’m so excited to now have this in my collection.
You should grab a copy if you’re here. -

I’m very pleased with my pressing. Very quiet vinyl. Clean. Plays lovely. Very relaxing music. I love Alice’s voice and organ playing.
-
This pressing is not up to that of the other 60 anniversary issues to date. It has a considerable amount of pops and ticks, even after ultrasonic and vacuum cleaning. Still, nice to have a legit copy of these wonderful recordings.
-
Sounds great but shame on Impulse for allowing such a shoddy pressing to go out. Besides crackling like a Nigerian VG used record, my copy has globs of vinyl stuck firmly to the surface that cause loud, disturbing pops that will knock you right out of your meditative state.
-
Like most new vinyl pressings, this is quite off-center on at least one side. And although it has a nice booklet, the records are placed in the flimsiest paper sleeves i have ever encountered. Not a good way for Impulse to celebrate its 60th anniversary. Caveat emptor.

I don’t get the beef about the art work, it’s a nice illustration and I appreciate the artist’s efforts. Geesh,.some people!

I agree with others; Kirtan should be a separate discogs entry. While I'm glad to hear this stripped down recording, I still find the cassette versions much more fascinating. If you're familiar with her published writings from the early eighties and have seen her public access show where she performed some of these songs live, it seems clear that she wanted folks to hear the cosmic versions as they exist on the cassette. Too bad they shelved the plan to reissue the original version. Also, sadly, this is a mediocre pressing. A box set with all four devotional albums, Turiya Sings, Divine Songs, Infinite Chants, and Glorious Chants with someone like Kevin Gray at the helm, wouldn't that be ideal.
