Epic album - modern experimental rock masterpiece. Vinyl mastering is superior to what I hear on Spotify; much more open, dynamic and well balanced. The music comes out alive from my speakers. What a pleasure to hear modern records being mastered properly.
Discs were flat and noiseless. -

Edited one year agoI wonder if the dots between the lyrics in the gatefold mean anything. I thought it was morse code for a second, but they don't really make sense that way.

What is the difference between this and this version?

Now I hear the Paddling issue in this pressing. It's very strange that only the electronic hi hats are suffering from drop outs, which made me believe it's a mixing problem.
-
This is brilliant music: funky, arty, and with a good punch of rock at the right moments. Reminds me of early 80s no wave stuff, but it definitely sounds 'presently'.

Edited 3 years agoWonderful sounding press - dead quiet. The brilliant mastering brings out all the dynamics of the very dynamic music of this visceral album! Most promising debut album (along with BC,NR's 'For The First Time' ) that I've heard in awhile. I haven't actually listened to the digital version, so if there are errors (intentional or not) on 'Paddling'.. ignorance is bliss?

The problem with Paddling where the volume drops multiple times is pretty distracting. Are all of the pressings like this? I don't see how this ed the test pressing phase unless it's intentional for some strange reason.
Other than that issue, this is an excellent sounding pressing.
