Noisy as all hell! Stay away from this pressing. Yeah mono sounds great, but the stereo AP without noise sounds so much better.

Sounds Great, I have several of these RTI Miles Davis Mono pressing from 2009-2019 from Prestige and Columbia and they all sound wonderful. I would say they sound almost as good as the current Blue Note Classic Series. I'm not sure if they have a digital step but it is done very well as is the mastering. The availability varies but I have found several for $20 or below new so that is a great deal.

Stunning pressing! This mono release is flat, quiet and perfect in every way. Big soundstage and excellent dynamic range. This rivals all the current expensive audiophile releases. Priced at a bargain for $23.99 on Amazon! There is no reason why all releases of this quality shouldn't be priced like this. I have a bunch of these Legacy releases and it seems that have upped their game with the mastering by the likes of top engineer Kevin Gray. Highly recommended!

Just picked this up yesterday at my local store. I have no other copies so I cannot really compare but to me, this is a treat to listen to.

Edited 3 years agoGlad I bought this. Still hoping to find a vintage mono copy but this pressing will certainly do for now. Great sound!

Edited one year agoOne of his very best in a catalog full of great albums, Miles and his band of superstars really deliver this time. From Wynton's opening F pedal figure to establish both urgency and ambiguity, Miles begins by stating the melody over said pedal, building tension all the way to the first ending when the actual changes are stated for the first time. Magical. Other highlights are "Teo" (The contour of Coltrane's solo is killin') and "Old Folks", but there's no dud in this set.
Wow, what an incredible reissue. Took a chance on this at a low price and am quite pleased. I've known this recording intimately since my childhood, and this reissue has it. Though it says MONO on the sticker, the soundstage is very 3-dimensional.
5 stars. Recommended. -
