Edited 2 years agoThis is a fantastic and detailed rendition of the album. Vibrant, exhuberantly chaotic and excuses to no-one. I this very well from when it came out, albeit I did not have it on vinyl, and the brutality was unadultered and fresh even if I was paying a lot more attention to the Exorcism CD/10" and the excellent Pandemonium CD/12" instead of the full album, so I was very pleased that D11 "Pandemonium (A Thread Of Steel In The Suspension Bridge Of Time And Space Mix) and D12 "Another Cult Goes Down (Portobello Mix)" are included here as they are the best part of this album beyond the A side (..and whiteout!). Had they included the fitting orbular psychadelic dub remix of "Requiem (A Floating Leaf Always Reaches The Sea Mix)" this set would have been beyond stellar. D11 has its first vinyl appearance here (? no?), and D12 didn't sound too good on the crammed 10", so two really good additions to finish this KJ milestone. 5/5.
I just compared this with the 2020 remaster, Pandemonium, and that one is not at all as detailed or good-sounding as this 2008 edition, the 2020 is much more muddy and blurry, more bass/mids, and that one still offers more space to each track as there are no extras, but of no sonic advantage. Less is not always more.
