My copy sounds clean. No issues and very quiet. I love that you can crank this as it seems to be mastered at a lower volume. Perfect for shoegaze type music. You can really get lost in the mix when you crank it. Good album. Beach House nailed it with this one.

I'm in search of a signed copy of this if anyone has one! Just let me know your asking price or if you'd trade for anything in my collection.

Just improved my cartridge and this finally opened up! Based on my experience this record requires expensive equipment to sound better than the digital. If you have a nice DAC you might want to skip the vinyl.

Edited 2 years agoNo code in newer pressings. I agree with the comments on low volume and muddy sounding, but it somehow works. It grows on you and sucks you in - dreamy and great sounding in the end. My pressing is flat and dead quiet as well. Definitely glad I picked it up.

The packaging is incredibly beautiful, but the pressing itself is underwhelming. While this press is by no means bad, it leaves a lot to be desired. it’s pretty low volume and can sound a bit flat at times, more so on side A than on side B. The particular songs I noticed this on were Dark Spring, Lemon Glow, and Dive. Some songs sounded fantastic though, such as Black Car, Drunk In LA, Lose Your Smile and Pay No Mind. Overall this pressing is Not great but I’m not unhappy with it.

I’m not sure what the complaints are. I was actually really surprised at how good my copy of this sounds.
And damn, this album is insanely dreamy on vinyl. -
Nice pressing no complaints. No pops or crackles straight out the jacket, with the talent of this band this Phoenix delgados stars and mbv hell Jesus and Mary chain amalgamation, it practically demands but doesn’t deliver the ful potential , esp knowing the depth and warmth a 2XLP would provide .. maybe there is a copy but I don’t own it, this will suffice it
Is still worth picking up, the nostalgia runs deep with this one.. its a great Mix unfortunately midtones are somewhat muddled together but not in an offensive way, it’s like a brandy old fashioned. Great looking foil stamp graphics, it’s practically a time capsule.
My reference equipment is a Pro-Ject X2 with Sumiko moonstone cart through a Marantz amp, Jamos towers nothing fancy -

Saw 3 or 4 copies of this. Each one had non-fill or stitching (RTI fumbling its QC), so they’re intermitteny noisy on top of having a very narrow dynamic range due to cramming 48 minutes into two sides. Gave up and ed on this, sounds significantly better on lossless.

Edited 6 years agoPretty good pressing... a bit muddy, but very lush in the lower ends. Seems to be mastered a bit low. Moderate amount of background noise. I think this album would've benefited from a double LP pressing rather than packing so much on one disc.
