Edited 6 months agoterrible pressing from digital master, the instrumental part sounds a lil’ good but the vocals are mixed terrible and she sounds like a robot and not only if you listen closely
-
Edited 7 months agoIt’s so frustrating that this pressing gives you nothing positive to grab on to. Ok, I suppose it isn’t dire and it is listenable. But Back to Black should be among your top 10 vinyls to own. Everyone knows about its incredible musicality, and this pressing doesn’t take that away. But it’s going to give you overly tight compression with a sound stage that’s so narrow I had to put an ear to a speaker to convince myself this isn’t mono. Amy’s voice should pull you right into The Dublin Castle on a smokey, crowded gig night. Instead it sounds like she’s been slung through a DAW on standard settings. So much for all that promise of Neumann U67 valve mics. Oh well.

Sound is digital and way too much compressed. It is blown up and on the brick to distortion, typical mastering style of the loudness war. It ruins the music.
-
Even if this genre is not up your alley, this is still a must have for any serious collector. An absolute masterpiece which should deserve presence in one of your crates.

I'm having the same problem, the sound quality of this pressing is horrible.
Like someone has messing with the gain knob.
Such a waste for such an fantastic album -

Edited 4 years agoOk, I'm not the most professional person when it comes to the sound of records, but anyways I'd like to give this release a (basic) critic since there isn't one. The sound isn't the best, but it isn't the worst vinyl I ever heard. I'd like to compare it to other reissues. Even the CD sounds better. The quality of the packaging is really nice though.
- Me & Mr. Jones sounds awful
