Ordered this yesterday and received it today and gave it a first listen.
Firstly what an album.
I have seen a few people complain about this pressing, saying things like it skips.
I had absolutely no issues when playing all 4 sides. There are some pops and crackles but if you have listened to the digital version you would notice that also, these are artificially added to the tracks.
I do clean my stylus before every new album I play and I always dust the vinyl before playing.
If only been buying vinyl for a little over a week and this is my favourite purchase so far. -

Absolutely phenomenal pressing, zero issues on my copy with sound and no warping. This is still a wonderful record and I'm so glad to have it on vinyl!

Edited 2 years agoJust finished my second playthrough. As always, I'm late to the party. My god, what an incredible album! Just so uplifting and so utterly unique and broad in it's scope, it's just so beautiful. The only comparison I can think of is perhaps M83's Oblivion OST, the breadth of sound, the size of the music space in front of you is so vast, and so all encoming. It's almost like a Hans Zimmer piece of music.
My copy was brought direct through Ninja Tune in the UK.
Pressing wise, mine is pretty perfect, dead flat and centered labels, very low surface noise, very few clicks and pops, incredible balance, bass is quite heavy but in a way that compliments the music, it's not overblown. I found the same on the previous album.
Just an incredible job all round, these guys really know how to put out a record, incredible! Can't wait for the "The Last Goodbye" -
I was worried about some reviews, so in case this is helpful to anyone I'll go into detail about the copy I just received.
Odesza use copious amounts of "fake" noise (most often pseudo-vinyl static) and after hundreds of listens I'm very aware of where. That said, I do get some non-recorded surface-type noise here and there on my copy, especially side A. The worst track is Line of Sight, which has cyclic "scritching" in the right channel through a lot of it. Strangely, side B seemed perfect, and there's only a couple on sides C and D (mostly in the left channel this time). It's a little disappointing compared to the pressing of In Return, but it's not bad. I've noticed this phenomenon on a couple other newer pressings I've gotten recently, and it often seems to only affect certain tracks on one side, and only one channel (usually the right).
Definitely no skips on mine (maybe those people had setup problems? the bass on this material would certainly reveal any, but idk I saw a lot of complaints about skips). Both of my discs have a very minor warp that does not affect playback; no worse than probably 30% of new pressings I've bought (but again In Return was dead flat). I've gotten new pressings shaped like a spoon, and this is about 2% as bad as the worst warps I've seen. The hole is well centered to the material on both discs so the cartridge isn't bopping back and forth to the music (fun fact: it's slightly off on both discs of In Return, but no "scritching" on those).
As for the sound quality (apart from those occasional noise issues) the mastering is if anything better than In Return, and I find it better balanced and more consistent than some of those tracks, though nearly as dynamic. It sounds fantastic, and blows away streaming quality.
The clear vinyl looks beautiful, though is a bit more static-prone than In Return's black vinyl. The jacket printing is even better than their other LPs, with a gorgeous inner gatefold, and I was delighted that it includes printed cardstock sleeves with lyrics/credits, rather than printing them in the gatefold spread like In Return. A minor issue, but I wish they hadn't put the code on a sticker prominently on the non-text side of one of the sleeves, but I feel like trying to remove it would end in tragedy. -
Edited 2 years agoSound: very good sound quality and volume, nearly no background noise; no skipping
Discs: quite warped, but no problem with playing -

My copy works flawlessly. I was really impressed with the production quality and mixing on the album. I had listened to a few songs back when it was released but never appreciated the LP as a whole. Really pleased with a purchase I feared would be an impulse-buy regret.

I've read a number of bad reviews for this 2 LP set. I must have been lucky. My copy is flat and dead quiet. Dynamic range and soundstage width is really good. I'm rather in awe of the bass reproduction. Added bonus, the clear vinyl (which I usually avoid due to sound quality issues) is quite striking. Every needle drop is a photo op.

This album has some skips and pops when bought brand new. Washed the disk numerous times and pop and skip is still there. Pressing quality control has to be the issue, at least with the copy we have.
