The Beatles – Anthology

At 480i resolution this is never going to look great but the sound is excellent, except for the concert footage with the screaming fans. Since this was a broadcast event the series was designed to deliver a balanced weekly experience, hence, too much concert footage(essentially, screaming fans) that really kills the flow. This should be re-edited with binge watching in mind, inserting the most important concert footage, and relegating the remainder to a bonus feature. Still, this is a must watch for every Beatles listener.

Hopefully this gets an HD/4K upgrade sooner or later. It deserves to stand alongside Peter Jackson’s Get Back since the three surviving Beatles collaborated on this.

Update: honestly, after having rewatched this, it is in need of some modernization. For me, there’s just too many montage sequences with album or Anthology tracks playing over random footage. It’s especially distracting when a lot of the content is stitched together from different years at times, especially pre-Sgt. Pepper’s from what I . Perhaps it made sense then to draw out each episode for runtime but now a leaner, more essential version would be totally welcome. Sure, keep a soundtrack going throughout but who wouldn’t want a well-edited version of all four sharing their stories without constant interruption?

I think this version is a bootleg and it is worse quality than the original. I accidentally bought one and I'm pissed. This version should be removed.
