This is also the only source for Party Fears Two that isn't compressed-to-shit but naturally it has to have a fcked-with remix instead. Extraordinary that this most seminal of early-80s tracks doesn't have a digital source of any fidelity anywhere... -

This a a great, underrated New Romantic album. Billy Mackenzie’s talent typifies the genre. -

Can’t compare to original press but this sounds good to my ears. My copy is flat with no significant pops or crackles. Happy with it. Decent pressing. -

I've listened to side 2 a few times now and haven't noticed any skipping or other issues. I guess you've just been unlucky and have a glitchy copy? Back in the day when vinyl was the primary format, it wasn't uncommon to have to return a vinyl LP because it was poorly pressed. FYI, I bought my copy from Juno in the UK, for delivery in the UK. (BTW, I haven't listened to this album in quite a few years and had forgotten how solid it was -- a good introduction for anyone new to the Associates.) -
Edited 2 years agoWhy were "The Associate" and "A Girl Named Property" included when they were clearly from “Fourth Drawer Down” is a mystery. Now, "The Associate" did appear on early CD versions but as a 3:40 edit and not the full length version included here.
Also, the actual LP version of "Party Fears Two" was 5:45 and is missing here. Also, why weren't the following tracks included?
"Voluntary Wishes, Swapit Production" – The instrumental mix of “Australia” that was B-side to "18 Carat Love Affair".
"A. G. It’s You Again" – The alternate mix of “Arrogance Gave Him Up” from the 12″ of "Club Country".
"Club Country (12″ mix)" – The 6:45 mix of “Club Country” single should have been included.
"Party Fears Two" (1982 UK LP mix) – as stated.
"Party Fears Two" (2000 V2 Promo mix) – This 5:12 mix appeared only on the 2000 Associates promo should have been included.
"It’s Better This Way" (Arthurworrey remix) that was also on the early CD versions.
So, 8/10 all in all. The live gig is priceless but the omission of the above tracks spoils an otherwise great set. Another missed opportunity. -

Does anyone know why two songs from the previous album,A Girl Named Property and The Associate, are included on this box set -
Can someone post the times for the bonus CD? The "album version" should be about 5:45. Also supposedly the tape for this has been lost. Are there any pops & crackles on this CD version? I have the OG vinyl so don't want this if it's just a vinyl rip.
