Edited one month agoI gave it 2 stars because I really really enjoyed the music. That being said, the pressing is pretty bad. Noisy on side A and bad skips on side B. Pretty muddy midrange everywhere. I got it for super cheap and enjoy the music so I may pop it on from time to time but definitely won’t be using it to show off my system to friends

Played it once and it had some noise. Gave it a quick cleaning and it cleared up 90% of the dirt. One more cleaning and it’s great. I understand some people may have gotten a bad pressing but I think some people should stick to cds. Cds are great too! Who cares. We get too far up our own arse about our hobbies. But I digress; great album with some of the best music Sturgill and company have put to album. Brace for Impact is a gem.

To quote Mackeyse below, this is definitely "right around “tolerable” on the scale of “flawless to sending it back”." I'm glad to have a physical copy of this album--the music itself is insane--but it's a lousy pressing. Lots of noise and crackle throughout. Digitally, it sounds way better, so it's not the source. This is strictly for Sturgill completionists.

10 comments about this album and none about the music contained ... why are you buying this music if you aren't interested in the content?
It's a fantastic country music album and yet none of you mention this ... Why? -

My copy is not great, but, unfortunately, I've seen worse. The background does not have constant noise, but there are plenty of pops/clicks/crackle throughout, even after cleaning. 2M Bronze. These are mostly hidden during the songs, but do make an appearance every now and then. The record and cover look really cool. I'm not sure I would say to avoid this, especially since it is so cheap, but realize you aren't getting an audiophile pressing.

Also snagged this from Deep Discount for cheap. There's definitely some distortion on some of the vocals early side A. Little bit of surface noise too. Not awful, though. Worth the price.

Grabbed a copy on black vinyl at Deep Discount when it was on sale, cost about $8 shipped so well worth it, even though I already have the colored version. I was never happy with the sound on the colored version. Even after multiple deep cleans, it still had multiple sound issues, which also happened on my green/yellow Vol 1 (although different types of issues). I got a black green/yellow and it was flawless, and this black vol 2 is much better than the blue. However, it is not as perfect as vol 1. Slight warp, small amounts of surface noise, but vast improvement over the colored vinyl

Ouch. This is not a good pressing. Even after a thorough cleaning, it has background noise throughout, and the sound quality is poor. I wish I could like this more, but it is a muddy sounding mess.
